(about 1991)
I told them my dreams;
I told them my dreams;
they said to wait-
I'd see they'd never be:
"welcome to reality."
They didn't take the time
to gather up the seeds,
search through them quietly,
keep them safe and warm.
They didn't break their ground,
though it hurt to make the change;
to plant it in the soft warm earth
all covered underground.
They didn't watch with tender care
as roots began to grow.
As up and outward grew the flower
I now hold in my hand.
