Home
(about 2000)
Spirit:
I'll never forget the day I left
I can't share details;
what did details
ever have to do with memories?
Feelings mostly, just a promise really.
But I know I'm not home here.
Heart:
I know home.
I've felt it's comfort
with friends
and in the sunshine
under rainfall
in the wind
with my love
and in my family
in the children I know
and the child I was.
Mind:
I try to understand
The heart assures
over and over
about home
but the word "home"
is like relief
after all the computing
and figuring
and complexing
Home is understandable
it is the closest thing
to peace.
Body:
I am home to a spirit.
The choices it makes
determine my home someday.
I've never been home.
I have no guarantees--
I can hurt, and get old
I can have illness
I can break and grow
and be healed
and I can die.
I am only temporoary!
But if the spirit
is called charity,
hope, and faith . . .
I will discover home, too.
