Unopened

These things I so need

and want

gifts unopened

lie under illuminated tree

or atop centre table

I in anticipation

knowing they are mine

but unable

yet

to enjoy

to receive

Always looking

never knowing

I imagine my life

the joy

completion

a filled cup

overflowing

So focused

on these unopened gifts

forgetting to see

all I already have

So many gifts

already opened

in perfect moments

of times past

Name them

each

one by one

And know

timing is everything

in the opening

for the Giver

each time appointed

and perfect

Know also this

seeing

will carry me

to that reality

of no gift left

unopened
